Professional Experience: 10+ Years Teaching & Outreach
For over a decade, I have designed and led engaging educational programs focused on American Sign Language (ASL), Deaf culture, and inclusive communication. My work spans a variety of settings, including libraries, schools, community centers, and outreach programs. I have extensive experience developing and delivering interactive sign language workshops for children, families, and educators.
As of 2025, my programs are featured in over 45 libraries across Suffolk, Nassau, and Queens counties, reaching diverse audiences and fostering inclusive learning opportunities.
In addition to teaching Mommy & Me ASL, Sign & STEM, Hands Together: Embracing Diversity, and Family Place-type programming, I have worked to create customized curriculum that integrates language development, cultural awareness, and interactive learning strategies. I am committed to fostering accessibility, inclusivity, and language-rich environments.
Education & Professional Development
Currently, I am pursuing a Master’s degree in Special Education and Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TODHH) at St. John’s University (SJU). My coursework focuses on language acquisition, assessment strategies, and effective teaching methodologies for D/HH students. This advanced training enhances my ability to provide evidence-based instruction and advocacy for students with diverse communication needs.
I have also completed numerous professional development workshops and certifications, including training through the Suffolk Cooperative Library System (SCLS) for Signing in Storytime Librarian Training, as well as workshops related to Deaf culture, ASL instruction, early childhood language development, and inclusive teaching practices.
Community Outreach & Leadership
For the past 10 years, I have been actively involved with the Girl Scouts, promoting leadership, inclusivity, and accessibility within the organization. Through tailored outreach programs, I have introduced ASL education and Deaf awareness activities, empowering young scouts to embrace diversity and effective communication.
